Well, there's a point when it becomes filler, because they make the anime faster than Kishimoto can produce chapters of the manga. That happens at about episode 141. From there, one should skip ahead to the last couple episodes of filler before moving on to
Naruto: Shippuuden, which is excellent, exciting, and deals with the Akatsuki as the main foe, taking place 2 years after the original
Naruto. Plus, Sakura's no longer a whiny wimp post-timeskip.
As for the game, from what I can tell it has possible spoilers through episode 100 based on the playable characters.
