I admit, I did that with the first essay. I read enough of it to decide that his findings did not correspond to my situation, then I stopped reading his article. I'll read the full article if I'm interested.
However, I find that I don't like reading long texts on my computer. Books and magazines are much more comfortable for reading big hunks-o-text.
