Today I recommend
The Conversation directed and written by Francis Ford Coppola. It was his first movie following
The Godfather. I guess it qualifies as a crime/drama/mystery. It stars Gene Hackman as a surveillance expert who suspects that the couple he is watching is going to be killed. This is a good movie, perhaps one of Coppola's best.
