Thanks for all your responses people.

I have decided to go with the Linksys WRT 54G2.

At $45 it seems like the best bet for my needs. I just need reliability and decent net-surfing speed. I don't download (maybe 3-4 times a year from iTunes). I occasionally stream a tv show that I missed like Battlestar Galactica. My laptop is a 2005 Apple G4 iBook. So it seems like wireless G should suit me just fine.

When I upgrade my computer, then I can just upgrade my router then (at least 1 year away).
