interesting. I thought it was pricy too. Uptime said they could do the data transfer off my NT box for $90 per hr. as well....

I hadn't given Dell a thought as I figured they couldn't sell me XP any longer. Best Buy only has one little laptop that has XP on it.
the most powerfiull comp RE-PC has on the floor is $700 and it's got a proper vid card, 200gig HD and I think 3 gig of ram.
funny how the monitor is just about a freebie with the comp. seems a shame not to take it but the CRT I have looks really great and (ten yrs ago) cost me a grand.
what RE-PC's got also has a place for 2 vid cards so I'd be able to get a vid card I could plug a VCR into to transfer some old tapes with as well as a proper 3D accelerator.
I do really like Quake III and I see myself playing DM on Q4 some but I've never been good enough to go online. I definatly liked to download pro DM and turnament games when I had Q3 on my NT comp so I'd guess people still do that in Q4 now. I just read Doom 4 is going to happen. I'm into that.
all I can think of lately is every dime I save is good considering gas and the value of my USD which is going down the shitter.
oh...heh, so while these guys are transfering my data to my new rig or a flash drive....how do they know what it is ? or do they ? I mean, are the Geek sqads transfering tons of pron people want to save off their old personal home comps all the time ?? pritty funny to think.
