It is, to a certain extent. On the other hand, I think it's fairly established that there is
some metaphysical power in the BSG universe, and that the journey the cylons and humans are on right now is somehow linked to that. So, I don't think it's unreasonable that something intangible like love is necessary for procreation in cylons.
