And Will, your precious nonpartisan judges were nominated by either the President (if they're federal) or the governor (if they're state). If they're local, well, in my opinion they don't count in this discussion since they're deciding traffic tickets. But that's my opinion. Packing the Supreme Court with your cronies goes back to the Jackson administration. And it backfires ALL the time. I offer Hugo Black as a quintessential example, given that Nixon was after a true conservative and got a liberal-leaning moderate.
