One of the worst movies I've seen in a long time.
1. Why did they make 90% of the action scenes CGI? Is it really that hard to actually film REAL action scenes nowadays? They shot nearly all of the action scenes on green screen, and it shows. The jungle scene looked like a fucking videogame. Terrible. The movie felt like Star Wars prequel #4 because of the fake environments. I think even part of the damn warehouse was CGI - how much does it cost to make a real fucking warehouse, guys. DAMN. Even the monkeys and prairie dogs and shit were CG. There are some movies that you just don't use green screen and CG should be blocked - Indiana Jones is one of them.
2. Spoiler: Aliens? ALIENS????????? What the fuck? They crossed the line of "slight suspension of disbelief required" to "mystery science theater 3000" status. Ugh. And then at the end, despite seeing aliens and a spaceship and all sorts of fucked up shit, they were like "ok." And they just went back to normal life. ????? It just didn't fit the series.
3. Some small stuff: tarzan through the jungle, the stupid fake CG hater ants that looked good in some scenes, and then "dabble in photoshop" status in other scenes, not enough whip pwnage, the fact that they airbrushed Marion in all of the trailers, movie posters, and digital stills - and then in the movie she looked like a grandma;
4. REFRIDGERATOR: how is that fucking possible?? So, a nuclear warhead detonates a mile away from you, it completely decimates the entire test site, destroys a car that is like 2 miles away, but it picks up the refridgerator and deposits it thousands of feet away, and Indy is ok when he rolls out? Shouldn't he have been microwaved, or turned into hamburger from being thrown a mile in the air inside a metal box? Nope. That was just impossible and cringe worthy. Again, Indy films do require a certain suspension of disbelief, but that just defied physics and even fiction movie believability. We're not 7 year olds.
The things I liked: the acting, Harrison Ford still being fucking awesome, the small amount of action scenes that were real
6/10
Worst of the series, but good enough to show that it could have been GREAT if they would have used real sets and had a more believable story line
