Really depends on what brand it is, and where he bought it. Retailers overcharge way too much for HDMI cables. If they are Monster cables, you could get a chunk of change for them, and then go to Monoprice (
http://www.monoprice.com/products/su...02&cp_id=10240) and get an HDMI cable just as good for a fraction of a fraction of the price (that wasn't a typo, I really meant to say fraction of a fraction).
The only time you need to spend a lot on an HDMI cable is when you're getting a really long one. I've never known anybody that needed a really long one to hook a console to a TV... I bought a 3-footer for 5 bucks and it works perfectly (I keep my PS3 directly next to my TV though).
This post isn't going the way I intended it, it kind of turned into a rant about HDMI cable prices, but the first statement still stands... if it's one of the name brands that retailers overcharge for, I would take it back.
Also, there is a PS2 memory card to USB adapter for the PS3 that will let you transfer PS2 saves onto your PS3 hard drive.
