I'd liken it to keeping your powder dry until just the right moment, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if the timing was directed by the Obama campaign.

I suppose this may well be true. I'm not paying much attention to such details in this. Perhaps Obama told the shyster lawyer when to do it with the promise of some future position since he is currently out of a job politically speaking, all to play the media.
This would make sense, but focuses on a past thread where people didn't seem to think Obama was just another politician. Such a move is something just another politician would be doing.
