too much of a pain in the ass. I just stopped taking my computer unless it was absolutely necessary.
it also helps here in local US travel because they ask to remove it from the bag, which I usually have very well packed with a 2 laptops, 2 video cameras, 2still cameras, 1 dvd player, tons of batteries, and many cables.
