Well, your story leaves me with two questions that I would ask myself if I were in your situation, and deciding whether to stay or quit:
o Will The Company give me the leeway and power to fix the problems here?
o Will The Company give me the credit, respect, and eventual reward for fixing this problem for them?
If the answer to both is 'yes', then maybe you should stick it out through the tough times and come through with the satisfaction of a job well done. If not, maybe you should advance your career at a different company.
