Work rant
I work as a tech for a major wireless company (we're reliable, the network stands behind you, etc.) Anyway, my job is stressful enough because we're customer facing. Not only that, we're dealing with customers that are already pissed about their cell phones not working. I understand...but, don't take out your frustrations on me. Really, I want to help you out the best I can. Don't treat me like an asshole because you dropped three calls out of eight hundred and forty seven.
Anyway, my job is stressful enough dealing with that kind of shit all day, everyday. In the past year or so, I worked my way up the ranks from just a tech to a Team Leader. I run the tech department.
About a month or so ago, I moved for the simple fact that I wanted to be closer to where I work. I traveled about 45 minutes for around 9 months and hated the commute.
I took a vacation to move into the new pad, and got a call on the second to last day. My boss said they wanted to move me from where I was to a location now 30 miles from where I had just moved. I told them to stick it and if they were doing that, then consider this my two weeks notice.
We ended the call, and she got back to me. Now, they had decided to move me closer to home, about two miles from my new abode.
The trouble was two fold.
I left a shop that was universally recognized as a leader in operations and customer service within the company. I had a good team, and was friends with each tech. We had grown as a team, and looked out for each other. We had each other's backs. Truly, I looked forward to going to work each day, as each day was enjoyable.
The second piece of the trouble was they were moving me to a shop that was really in bad shape. Low morale, bad work habits, terrible audits, and behavioral problems were just a few of the things that awaited me when my vacation was over and I was to return to work. I was told that of the six workers there, only one was a strong tech. Everyone else had some type of problem.
It was up to me to be the new sheriff in town and clean up the OK corral where at least five other people had failed. My boss had faith in me to do this.
Anyway, there was one fucktard there who thought he was the boss. From day one, he would give me constant push back. He'd mumble under his breath, leave early, call out, and generally just be a dick whenever our paths would cross.
We had a yelling match one day. I handled it wrong and wound up crossing the line and calling him a "piece of worthless shit". I'm one of the most laid back people you'd ever meet. For me to get to that point where I called him that took a lot of pushing.
The situation arose from him being insubordinate, and had I properly handled the situation, he would have been on a final written warning.
But, I digress.
Make an already long story short, fucktard got into another yelling match (with someone else) and this time was fired. This is a good thing...
Except the shop was already down a person. Now, we're down two. We have someone who's leaving for maternity leave within the next couple of weeks, so that leaves us down three.
We're down half the shop...
The soonest we are getting someone is 3 weeks.
Thanks if you read this far.
