I had no knowledge of the original. Therefor it was supposed to me new to me. Within 45 minutes, I knew exactly what the characters were going to do down to the Spoiler:
kid making the final kill in the end. It did not interest me like older Burton films. The story itself did not capture me.
And for the record I love reading Hamlet, and can watch almost any version.
