I had difficulty myself,
Try to get to bed consistently at one time.
Do something that you know tends to make you drowsy, read a particular topic, not something totally interesting.
Eat something insubstantial (like milk or a piece of bread), this will draw your energies to your digestive system.
Reduce stress
Exercise vigorously some time before hand.
Take a nice, hot shower or bath.
Lay down, and be still, do something quiet.
I got a special foam mattress covering, like the ones in the back stores,
they work but they are expensive ($200)
