I went on a movie binge this weekend, so:
Waxwork - 7/10
I'm a horror buff, so this was a serious pleasure to watch. Not only is it one big homage to all of the horror greats, but they even threw in a little Marquis de Sade to make my literary side tingle. Definitely one of the better B-movies from the '80s. Unfortunately, it's trumped by...
Waxwork II: Lost in Time - 8/10
Basically takes the original and pumps it with more humor and a bigger budget, with a fun cameo by Bruce Campbell and some great performances by the villains, the main villain being the guy who played Karl in Die Hard. Big points for references to Nosferatu (which features a young Drew Barrymore), Dawn of the Dead, and Alien.
Barry Lyndon - 9/10
A lesser known Kubrick gem. This baby is a three hour epic with some beautiful performances, cinematography, and costuming. It chronicles the rise of a young man through the classes of Britain during the reign of George II, and I really can't recommend it enough. Coming from an ADHD-riddled mind, it's really something that it didn't lose my attention. I love this film, and you should too.
