Apparently Spamalot is quite good, although I suppose the artistic merit of Monty Python is debatable.
'Artistic merit' is a vague term and strikes me as somewhat elitist.
Also, a nitpick - Phantom of the Opera was adapted from a novel, not a film. There were film adaptations as well, but so far as I'm aware they all use the original Leroux novel as their source.
