Yes, at their core, punk and emo are pretty much the same thing. It's the lifestyle behind each which sets them apart, and it is a drastic difference. Emo music is a sell-out, whiny industry, whereas punk rock is a D.I.Y., take action movement.

To some, this may seem very silly. To me, it's something to stand for. I have dedicated my life to punk. It's a lifestyle I chose years ago, and I hold a lot of loyalty to it.

I'll be damned if some whiny, depressed kid is going to shit on my scene.

(P.S. I mean no offense to anybody here, and this post is not necessarily meant to be a bash on emos. I'm simply shedding some light into the thought process involved on one side of this dispute.)

I appreciate your stance, but I don't see loyalty to one's lifestyle as a legitimate reason to kick someone's ass because they subscribe to a different lifestyle. oy. vey.

And it seems, at least, that Mexican emo's are 'take action' kind of people.
