Here in Portugal people spit on the ground a lot. I find it disgusting to do that, or see it done, especially somewhere public, where people have to walk. I think it's quite rude too. Tissues people - and I'm pretty sure you don't actually need to do it. I never have and I'm fine.

I hate it to the point that it's pretty much a dealbreaker for me, I could not be with a guy who did this.

I have a funny spitting story (or sad one, however you want to see it). I was standing on a platform waiting for a train a few years back, and I heard the most beautiful whistling I had ever heard. Seriously, it was so beautiful that I was trying to work out who was doing it. I love music and this was really special. And then...he made a sound. The most revolting sound. Hocking - really loudly. And then...he spat. I was... a little shocked. Don't laugh when I tell you it taught me a lesson of sorts
