Just re-watched this film recently. It's an excellent 'coming of age'-type movie about a group of boys in the '70s trying to make a go of healthy rebellion with booze, mountain lions and comic books. Things don't go as well as they could. Jodie Foster gives a nicely understated performance as an oppressive, yet vulnerable nun and Vincent D'Onofrio the smoking, noncommital parish priest.

Eastern Promises 7/10
I dunno. Didn't think much of this film. Cronenberg hit his peak with Dead Ringers, I suspect. And, sorry, but I just don't think Viggo Mortensen is that great of an actor. I sat through this film thinking, 'look, it's Viggo Mortensen talking like a Russian guy.' Even his movements seemed overly studied and purposeful. Eh, I just didn't buy it. But I do give him props for that bath house fight scene. Not too many actors would brave that one.
*edit* Oh! But I wanted to mention how much I liked seeing Vincent Cassel in this film and enjoyed his excellent performance as Kirill.

Capote 10/10
I thoroughly enjoyed this film and it was not at all what I was expecting. Which is a good thing. Phillip Seymour Hoffman deserved his nomination. Don't remember if he won or not...but who cares. It was an excellent film all around.

Started watching Into the Wild last night and have The Darjeeling Limited sitting in line next to watch...I've been waiting for both of these for a long time. So far, I am enjoying Into the Wild very, very much. I am further impressed with Mr. Sean Penn. And the young man playing 'Alexander Supertramp' is excellent...don't know who he is.
lol, I've just realized that the guy in Into the Wild is actually the same young man who stars in The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys...I did not recognize him.
