Soundtracks of Movies

When the TFP was down, I posted Soundtracks of Movies on the blog. Since I'm still moving and grooving with this, I thought to move it to a more fitting location for discussions.

As I was listening to Pulp Fiction Collector's edition, there's an interview with Quentin Tarantino on his soundtracks. Take a listen, it's quite interesting.

What's your favorite soundtrack? Honorable mentions? What specifically about that soundtrack makes you like it more than any other? Do you like scores like <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Music-Darkened-Theatre-Vol-Television/dp/B000002OEB/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&amp;s=music&amp;qid=1203889213&amp;sr=8-2">Danny Elfman's Music for a Darkened Theater</a>?

I really dig the Tarantino soundtracks. They are very eclectic and fresh and yet very old and familiar. Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, vol. 1. But if I have to pick one soundtrack as to a favorite, it is Bachelor Party. First, the sophomoric humor kills me. Tom Hanks is just hysterical in the movie, and Oingo Boingo makes a cameo. Adrian Zmed of TJ Hooker sings a tune.

But my hidden totally secret love soundtrack, The Little Mermaid. I enjoyed the music so much that after seeing the movie I went straight to the record store and bought it. For you DS9 fans, Odo (Rene Auberjonois) sings a wonderful black comedy tune, Les Poissons.

As far as scores are concerned, any of the Danny Elfman scores send shivers down my spine in excitment. I always look forward to any movie that he's involved with. I do look forward to any of the John Williams scores, I really liked the Phantom Menace score.

Some honorable mentions:

Stand By Me</a>

<a href="http://www.amazon.com/Heavy-Metal-Music-Motion-Picture/dp/B000002H4C/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&amp;s=music&amp;qid=1203891253&amp;sr=8-2">Heavy Metal</a>
As far as movie soundtracks go, I've rediscovered the 50's-esque La Bamba and Grease.

I just started on the London Symphony Star Wars Scores I-VI. I had forgotten just how moved I am by them. Each one has emotion oozing out of it and because of the visuals of the movie, I can see the scenes in my head as the music unfolds.
