I have a joystick but don't use it that often. The mouse is fine 90% of the time but the game does NOT have an in game mouse sensitivity setting. I have a gaming mouse so I can crank it up without fiddling with the windows settings, but if you don't the mouse will either be too slow for a maneuverable ship or you will need to reset it every time you start/stop playing.
