Obviously the solution is so just keep moving your mouse to the left!
It's probably a mouse calibration issue. Try not moving the mouse while the game is starting, or look in the options for a control sensitivity / calibration setting. That said, I've never played UT3 and it's a pretty niche question. You might go searching the official UT3 website/forums, as I'm sure tons of people there are having the issue if it's truly a result of the patch.
