My best friend, who was the best man in my wedding, is an environmental lobbiest in the Midwest. He has been for many years. One of his biggest allies in Springfield and the person that introduced legislation that my friend helped write is Barack Obama. He introduced me to Obama before there was a senatorial campaign. He introduced me to him when Obama was one of several Democrats running for Senate. He introduced me to him when Jack Ryan was in the race and when Alan Keyes was in the race. He introduced me again late last year and again this year.
Obama had a very strong environmental record in the Illinois legislature. He fought against the ComEd rate hike in Illinois. He introduced legislation forcing the utilities to use renewable sources.
If you think he's a shameless populist, you're not paying attention. Why don't you try that for a change?
