What would a normal person do, pay for coffee at Tim's to get the roll up the rim. If they win, great. If they lose then they take the losing cup to Coffee Time and don't pay there. They keep going back to Tim's.
Also, CoffeeTime is just not as appealing as Tim's. I am not sure why.

I suppose they view it as a loss leader. If they come in and try the coffee maybe they will like it and come back.
The Coffee Time just south of Danforth on Broadview always had lousy coffee that sometimes tasted of floor cleaner. I agree with you that there is just something off about Coffee Time (not that I am a huge fan of Tim Horton's either).
