We finally made it out for dinner and went to a place I've been wanting to try out for while... The Grill @ Hillcrest. It's a bistro style place that has good reviews...
Following Leto's lead, we had the following:
Entrees: I had the duck liver with apple compote and she had the asparagus and fennel soup. I thought the duck liver was excellent even if the plating was a bit precious, she thought the soup was a bit bland...
Mains: I had an excellent lamb shank (oh my God... I have to go back for this again) and she had the Cod (the various mmms that came from her tell me it was good.
Dessert: we shared a chocolate cake with carmelized bananas and vanilla ice cream (the cake was meltingly excellent).
The service was impeccable and highly attentive (rare for here) I even left a tip on top of the service charge in the bill.
I will definitely be going back for more.
The best parts of the evening were the time we sat holding hand and chatting while they prepared our dessert (from scratch takes time) and then the casual, post dinner stroll through the neighbourhood, holding hands, ogling the mansions and just chatting.
