Bootup stuff
ok so last night my wireless driver decided to become so unstable that it would instantly bluescreen and crash XP the second I turn it on.
works like a champ without it
I didnt have a way to connect to the internet at this point so I couldn't go and get a new driver, so I decided to try repairing the installation of xp but due to my inattentiveness, installed a 2nd copy of xp (which now asks which installation I want to boot from whenever I start my computer)
I was like "crap, this is unnecessary" and came to work to use the internet here via the line. Grabbed the driver, reinstalled it (all under my old xp install)
so how do I remove the one NEW xp installation from my menu and my hard drive?
2ndly, when I installed my 1st copy of xp it never asked me for a username so all I ever had was an administrator account. Last night I decided to try creating a new user profile as well to see if it were something else conflicting with something I had loading on my default profile.
when I did this it made the administrator profile "hidden" so it's not an option I can just choose from the login screen anymore (i have to hit ctrlaltdel twice and manually type in "administrator" with my password now)
so
answers I'm looking for
1. removing extra install of windows and the associated boot menu that pops up because of it.
2. I can't just remove th enew profile because it's the 1st "real" profile I suppose.
if anyone can provide solutions without the use of 3rd party software, I'd appreciate it.
thanks
