HD DVD gone now?
In case no one has heard yet, those of us early adopters might actually need not worry about choosing one or the other to support.
Seems today the HD DVD camp lost 2 big time supporters in Netflix which will begin phasing out all HD DVD titles and no longer purchase new titles in that format.
Then Best Buy puts out a press release stating that they are going to prominently display Blu-ray hardware and software as well as making the recommendation to all it's customers that Blu-ray is the format to choose for the future. They will still sell HD DVD players and movies, but will make a "push" for the Blu-ray products when asked for a recommendation from a customer who wishes more information or which is "better"
Does anyone see this as the final blow in the new HD format war, and if so what will it do for the price of the movies (currently in the $25-$30 range)
Do you think that Paramount and Universal will now go neutral and put movies out on both formats or will it be a short time before they drop the HD DVD ball and go exclusive to the Blu-ray format?
I for one am glad to really see all of this come to an end, I have owned a PS3 since the first month and I have yet to buy any Blu-ray movies since I didn't know which format would emerge as the next standard, so now I might start looking for some deals on Amazon.com
