Even after that data can be recovered after one pass since alignment of the magnetic domains is never one hundred percent accurate (I believe this term is called magnetic hysteresis, mechanical engineers know of elastic hysteresis). This is why multiple passes is a good idea.
CCleaner does [multiple] passes of psuedo-random data too, with your choice of 1, 3, 7, or 35 passes!
