I think the Giants won DESPITE Eli Manning's performance, not because of it. He was 55% on completions and looked shaky most of the game. How about someone like Antonio Pierce for MVP instead? Yeah, shutting down the Pats offensive time and time again is no small feat.
I think you're right it should have gone to someone on the defense. I'd be happy with a group MVP in this case.
