I don't think that standardized testing is the main culprit.
A heavily political and protected teachers union.
A 'no one should fail' mentality.
Teaching to the lowest common denominator.
The fact that its easier to get out of class than sports practices.
Lots of blame to go around, parents, teachers, methodology.
