My parents had a shotgun wedding (they got pregnant a few weeks after they met). The baby was stillborn but they went on to have me and my two little brothers.
My dad admits that he is not happy and doesn't want to be married to my mother any more, and even told me on the eve of my wedding that he wouldn't have married her if she wasn't pregnant. My mom is in complete denial. They don't even sleep in the same bed (and haven't for as long as I can remember). They're just roommates who share a mortgage and three children. It's bizarre.
Get married if you want to, not because you "have" to. I don't personally know of any shotgun marriages that have worked. Kids would rather have happy, separated parents than two that can't stand each other.
