Is it worth it buying a new laptop battery? What is the typical life of a battery?

My laptop:

Apple iBook G4, bought September 2005
OS 10.4.11, 512 MB RAM, 1.42 GHz PowerPC G4 processor

My laptop battery used to last me 6 hours or so on a full charge. I am now lucky to get 1.5 hours on a full charge. Is this normal? Is it worth it to buy a new battery? Where's a good place to get one?
