A Strict Non Winner
Hello,
First, I'm new to this forum and I'm not sure what the difference is between the "Post Reply" option and "Quick Reply". I think that "Quick Reply" might mean I have to type hurriedly, so I have gone with "Post Reply" for this post.
Anyway, I find this notion of awards interesting. Coincidentally, I had a discussion with coworkers just yesterday about awards and I have come to the conclusion that I am one of the few people on earth who has never won a thing. Back when I was a kid our local city recreation department had a day of athletic competition. It was the regular stuff, 100 yard dash, baseball throw, high jump. They had a lot of categories so every kid had about a 95% chance of winning one competition or another. There was a category for kids under four feet tall. One category for kids with a stigmatism. There was a category for kids who stuttered. Etc. I finished last or near it in every competition. Then I went and complained about the refereeing and lost the award that traditionally goes to the biggest loser, the Sportsmanship Award.
I graduated from high school 351st in a class of 359. (I tell people I gradutated in the top 98% in my class.) So I never won anything for my academic abilities. In my youth I never won a teacher-sanctioned foursquare or dodgeball competition, never a classroom spelling bee.
As an adult I've never won anything either. No silly bowling or golf trophy, trophies usually won because your teammates are good. I'm awardless at my place of employment. Never an "employee of the month" or an attendance award. My coworkers are amazed that I have never won a single award or honor for anything, that I'm lifetime-0. True though.
Certainly there has been someone else on the planet who has never received any honor of any kind. I've never found him however. He probably died at an early age.
Your Good Buddy,
