I think its time to stop beating around the shaved bush here...
To most men this is horrifying.
To most men this is hot.

The issue to me is don't blame society if you are fat, don't blame the adds for making you feel undesirable, don't whine its unfair, or think its crazy models like the first picture thats your real problem. I type this as I'm hungry as I'm trying to loose weight because I know I gained to much in the last year and want to do something about it. Do some women find me desirable? Sure, but I know more would if I dropped about 15lbs, including my wife, and I'd feel better about my self, and be a bit healthier, and these things are important to me enough to put up with low calories.
The western world is getting fat, I'm not really overly concerned about it, I think people should have the freedom to do what they want with themselves, but lets not rewrite history to claim that somehow we are not getting fat and that the problem is societies expectations of women.
Its important that girls know they don't have to look like the first or even the second model to be attractive, there is a healthy 'range' in that, but don't let that be an excuse for being over weight either.

I think women need a happy medium.
I actually think that show How to Look Good Naked for women with that Carson guy is a great eye opener for women who are insecure about themselves. I think it's really nice they're putting something like that on TV for people to see and hopefully pull their eyes off how perfect so and sos body is. My moms really self conscious about how she looks and she's curvy. 42DDs I think...unfortunately not too good for her back but you see what I mean. Curves are good in different ways.
Being healthy is the goal for me. I worry about not being a size 0 at times but I realize it's stupid to try to adapt to something impossible. I'm taller so I need more meat anyway.

You are pretty young so you haven't discovered the how the sizes are manipulated by the designers. At some point some clothes maker found out that if they call their size 10 a size 8, it sold better than if the identical piece was labeled a 10. This downsizing trend has been going on for quite some time (you can google for articles on it). Monroe was a 'size 10' and as genuinegirly said its much lower today. When I read about it several years ago she was a current size 6, I wouldn't be shocked if that were now a size 2 like she said.
My wife had issues with this after having a baby ordering new clothes on line from victorias secret. Her old size 8's were the same size as the current size 6's, same brand, same cut, same everything, just suddenly 'smaller', I wouldn't be shocked if they are a size 4 when she orders new stuff after our last child.
