That part to me is critical. It's one thing if your relationship is going great..you have a sense of stability, and usually the ex isn't perceived as a threat. But if you're going through a tough time,
and the ex is still in the picture,
of course it's very easy for it to complicate things. I'd understand that if I were in the
OP's situation, and I'd back off with the ex until the relationship was worked out one way or the other...not say "deal with it..." What kind of message is that to the person you're with
NOW? "I don't care about your feelings, deal with it tough guy..." That would probably piss me off.
