The Last King of Scotland
Premiered tonight on HBO and it is easy to see why Forest Whitaker took the Oscar, among other awards, for this.
The movie starts out a bit slow. Gillian Anderson, almost unrecognizable in long blonde hair and a half-hearted English accent and James McAvoy play missionaries in Uganda, when a chance meeting with Idi Amin offers the McAvoy character, Dr. Nicholas Garrigan, the chance to be Amin's personal physician.
It is when he takes the job that things start to pick up-the last 30-40 minutes are stunning, gory, disturbing and I couldn't walk away.
Best movie I've seen in a very long time.
