shesus: check out the fifth element.
it's another quite cool besson film, which i liked quite alot (despite the fact that bruce willis is in it.)

chris marker's amazing film about the rise of the new left/the history of the period from 1967-1974. a fascinating, complex film. i watched a dub and am not sure that there has been an official dvd release. i mention the dub because the imagery had a strange quality to it--kinda washed out--but the decision to use morton subotnik-style synthesizer sounds as the primary music/sound for the more iconic sequences seemed to merge with the quality of the imagery, so that the past you are watching--which is not that distant, really--seems strangely closed off, like you are watching a boat sink.
it's a brilliant film.
you have to know quite a bit about the history to see it as a film and not as an information source, but this is nonetheless a no-loose situation. see it if you can find it.
