It could very possibly be due to a change in hormones. It's fairly common to have spotting as a result of any stress, change in birth control method, etc. This only from my past personal experiences and those of many women friends experiences over the years.
But then again, you don't know. It's always best to get checked professionally if there's any doubt. It's better to spend the $100 (I have no clue what regular fees are these days are!) than not to know and be stressing, not to mention possible repercussions of letting a potential problem go.
