i watched a collection of suzan pitt animations last night:
asparagus
joy street
el doctor
unbelievable---i was floored by asparagus and el doctor in particular.
these are hard to describe...quite complex very surreal animations that use combinations of techniques/styles to a very effective end, particularly is leaving you sitting on your couch repeating the phrase "what the fuck was that?" over and over can be understood as a goal. i think of the 3 shorts, asparagus was my favorite not only because it went very far into dreamtime, but also because the richard teitelbaum/george lewis/steve lacy/steve potts et al. music track is spectacular----but it's hard to say which film is better as each is lovely, strange, beautiful.
brilliant stuff.
