he is right, don't waste your time and money on buying or illegally obtaining Microsoft office when you can get open office free and legally.. in my opinion, it is better than microsoft office in alot of ways as well.. if you absolutely need microsoft office for legit reasons (school, work, etc), i'm sure buying it should be an option for you. alot of companies / universities extend deals to employees and students to get this software for either free or highly discounted.... but seriously, open office is great!
and in most cases.. if this "disc" your friend gave you is a legal copy, it is often illegal to install it on more than one computer between different people.
