Ok, this process is kinda messy, but it gave my friend liberty spikes (more than 5 inches tall) that he could sleep on and still have the next day.
You need hairspray, and Knox Gelatin (which you can pick up at your grocery store). Mix the Gelatin with water, then run it through part of your hair, style it the way you want, Hairspray it, blowdry it, hairspray it again, then repeat. Kinda gets flaky, but it will stay up for as long as you keep it in your hair.
