I grew up with large guard-type dogs and I gotta say, when they're angry they can move pretty quick. You'd have to have damn good reflexes to get a good kick in on a mastiff or rottweiler before he got his teeth into you. It's a mistake to discount dogs as harmless, in this or any other situation.
