Excellent post, Moot. I feel like I've said the same things over and over in these kinds of debates. The human factor always seems to be tilted the wrong way.

Optimistic opinion at best. Don't generalize. Plenty of idiots own firearms, hence the "accidents" and other crimes committed by typically lawful owners. I'm progun as all get-out, but I'm just sayin'... owning a gun doesn't change who you are as a person. Good people own guns, morons own guns, bad people own guns. They're simply tools.
