Paddyjoe is right, it's possible that your old lenses will work with a digital camera so you should take that into account.
I would recommend the d200, I've had great results with it both in the studio and on location. I also have Nikon's 105 Macro lens.. I think it's an f5.6 or so..don't feel like finding it at the moment. That's a good lens for portraits.
The thing I like is going to the local camera store where they let me play with the cameras and lenses so I can get a feel for them. I'd suggest you find a place where you can do that and once you've narrowed it down from a technical standpoint you can make a decision based off how it feels in your hands.
