Absolutely excellent response. We are what we do,
what are what we do. There is a balance to be obtained, though. The experiences that you and I have from the military... not something that can be easily summed up in words for others to understand... it must be experienced. No way around it. Textbooks and movies and teevee are jokes and insults to the cold, messy reality.
I think
Roachboy was expressing his side of the philosophy as someone who probably hasn't been hammered into a combative shape and I concur with it to the extent that a lot of people pet gun egos and that must be tempered with proper training and certification and the confidence that comes from both having a big pair of brass balls and knowing when to utilize them.
