I can't shave directly against the grain under the chin, but going 120° against it after exfoliating and using a post-shave healer after the shower, I can deal with the one ingrown that usually pops up by pulling it out with tweezers.
Another tip: if you shave in the shower or after, your pores are wide open. Splash or run cold water over your face to close them up and you'll reduce irritation and ingrowns.
