I own a PS3 also.
One of the neat features you don't see mentioned too often is the ability to use it as a wireless media center. I can play MP3s and video files I have saved on my PCs...it can accept streaming media and play it through your home theater. That was a great little feature they added with a firmware update.
The XBox Live Network might be better, but the Sony network is FREE.
I use my PS3 mainly for Blu-Ray, but I also like downloading all the little games and (free)demos from the Playstation Network, which provides some quick entertainment.
