Sorry Will, I usually agree with you on movies but in this case you are so very very wrong. Really a Beowulf movie that is 100% accurate to the poem would absolutely suck. This movie was a lot of fun.

I actually prefer Beoulf & Grendel to the CGI Beowulf. It's a fantastic movie, complete with a pre-300 Gerard Butler as Beowulf, save for Sarah Polley and her out of place accent which drove me nuts throughout.
I can't stand 13th Warrior.
I will recommend the Lambert Beowulf on one condition. That you understand that it is a crappy, crappy movie. So bad that it's good.
