Emmy Rossum ... lush vocal landscapes!
We (well some of us) loved her or at least heard her potential on the "Phantom" movie soundtrack.
Her debut record is out, called "Inside Out." I have spent the last 40 minutes listening to it... and it is positively enchanting and utterly unique. She has such a charming quality to her voice, and the compositions and arrangements take full advantage of this. Think Enya, Clannad, Celtic Woman, Manhattan Transfer, Debussey, Dulce Pontes, Karen Carpenter, and Anuna, all rolled into one. Definitely the kind of music to chill out to... think snow on the ground, cloudy day, sitting in a chair by a window, wrapped up in a blanket with a cup of coffee, looking out on a winter wonderland. That's what this music conjures in me. Like being in a bubble of warmth surrounded by a quiet and innocent cold. Spring contentedly slumbering.
You know me.. I'm not normally a gusher when it comes to new artists, but I felt this one was really worth a mention. Have a listen!! It's available on I-tunes, Yahoo!, and in stores.
